We provided a design solution for the May 20th (520 is a homonym to “I love you” and thus became an unofficial lover’s festival in China) limited gift box for a collaborative project between skincare brand HomeFacialPro and floral brand Dresscode. The gift box was launched with an online event “eye” initiated by Dresscode. Lovers were invited to play a game of gaze and document the game.
Just like 520 is a homonym to “I love you”, “eye” is a homonym to “love” in Chinese. For this project we’ve decided to just play with homonyms. The confrontation between two languages produces a new meaning, where new possibilities for understanding is emerged—this is our interpretation of the lovers’ gaze.
